RE: PERFORMANCE
AT METROPOLITAN UNITED CHURCH
ON
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH AT 9:15 to 10:15 A.M.
Some weeks ago, we were asked by the music committee
of the “Time Out” program at
Metropolitan United Church to perform at their regular weekly event on Wed.
Feb. 24th. We did this event
in 2006, and our cellos did it a couple of years ago. I accepted because it is a good “concert”
event for us, gives us exposure to yet another appreciative audience, and
because this program has been in effect for many years and counts on community
support. We will perform for an audience
of about 100 people (with a nice grand piano for Norman!). I hope you will forgive me for asking you to
miss an hour or so of school, but hope that you will all be able to be there
and perform that morning.
So, on WEDNESDAY,
FEBRUARY 24th we will meet at 8:45 a.m. to give us time to tune
and do a quick sound check, and we will perform about 10 of our best
pieces. The last time we did this, there
were lots on interesting questions from the audience, and we secured another
performance for the Parkinson’s Society event.
We will perform between 9:15 and
10:15 – and we will finish then
because the schedule at “Time Out” is quite structured and strict!
Dress for the
event is all black, as usual.
Location: Metropolitan United Church is located at the
southeast corner of Wellington Road and Dufferin
Avenue.
I will assume that you will be there to perform with
the Forest City Violins unless I hear from you personally. Please let me know asap
if you cannot attend this concert event as it is essential that we perform with
a balanced ensemble.
You will
receive high school community service credit of 5 hours for this engagement.
